Equipment and clothing is very much down to personal choice.

Its important to wear something comfy. Most of us started in our old trackies but then gradually replaced the thread worn cottons with breathable, lightweight vests and shorts for the summer or ¾ trackies and long sleeves for the winter. Anything goes really, don’t feel pressure to spend lots of money on the latest fashion. However, having said that most people go more specialist as they build their mileage as the aim is for maximum comfort.

Optional extras –

Pedometer – great for monitoring progress and timing. Choose one with a run option as some only allow for a walking pace.

Drinks bottle – hand held or attatched to a belt. Some belt ones can be annoying as they “bounce” as you run. Choose carefully.

Reflectors – if running at dusk or on busy roads. Choose between wrist and ankle ties or a vest style.

Head-light – for dark winter runs in poor lit areas.

Belt – to hold keys, phone, jellybabies, and whatever else takes your fancy. Remember though, you have to carry it all!!

Music – ipod, mp3, radio. Cd….the choice is yours, or simply go for peace and quiet…
