Treadmills

Some people can be put off running outdoors by either the bad weather, their immediate vicinity such as major roads, childcare issues, personal safety concerns or simply not wanting to be seen running by the neighbours! The answer to this is a treadmill. You need to ensure you have the space to store one and the treadmill should be approached with the same commitment as if you were running outdoors. Ensure you can commit a suitable time period to it without the distraction of the phone or family demands, and ensure you are suitably kitted out. The initial outlay can be as low as £100 but you tend to get what you pay for and if you plan to use it regularly its worth investing in something more substantial.

It’s well worth doing some research to ensure you don’t purchase a great white-elephant. Consider –  does it have a motor and if so what is its power, what is the  accepted weight range, does it have a heart rate monitor, can it be stored flat, does it have hand rails, what about its shock absorption, can it calorie count, tell you how far you’ve run, what about guarantees, can you test drive it? Get advice from a professional shop or do some research on the web. There are many options out there.

Treadmills can compliment or be an alternative to outdoor running. It doesn’t really matter how you get your exercise as long as you are.
