Yoga
Running can be hard on the limbs and the joints and it can be tiring on the body. This is where a complementary exercise like yoga comes in. It’s a chance to stretch properly and relax those tensed up muscle groups. Yoga helps with flexibility, posture and strength too. Yoga is an holistic approach to working out – as well as improving overall fitness it can help with balance, co-ordination, breathing capacity and mental-focusing – all skills that will benefit and compliment your running.
Yoga classes can be found almost anywhere from your local leisure centre to your village hall. Typically classes last about one to one and a half hours and generally cost just a few pounds per session. There are many types of yoga, some more strenuous than others, do a little research, see what’s around locally and try out a session. Consider a class once a week as a starting point to compliment your running.
